Her Excellency Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, will make an Official Visit to Singapore from 30 November to 2 December 2016 at the invitation of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi will be accompanied by Union Minister for Commerce U Than Myint, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs U Kyaw Tin, and officials from the Ministry of National Planning and Finance, President’s Office, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi will call on Acting President J Y Pillay and PM Lee. PM Lee will host an official welcome ceremony and an official dinner for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi at the Istana. Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and DPM Teo Chee Hean will also host Daw Aung San Suu Kyi to meals.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi will attend IE Singapore’s Global Conversations with Singapore businesses. In addition, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi will visit the Singapore Botanic Gardens where an orchid will be named in her honour. She will also receive a briefing by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau and visit a hawker centre where Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan will host her to breakfast.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and PM Lee will be Guests-of-Honour at the opening ceremony of the three-month exhibition of Myanmar artefacts “Cities and Kings: Ancient Treasures from Myanmar” at the Asian Civilisations Museum.
