His Excellency Andrew Holness, Prime Minister of Jamaica and Minister of Defence, Economic Growth and Job Creation, is on a working visit to Singapore at the invitation of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
Prime Minister Holness called on PM Lee this afternoon, and was hosted to lunch by Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan. Prime Minister Holness and PM Lee affirmed the good relations between Singapore and Jamaica, and discussed opportunities for furthering bilateral cooperation, including the exchange of best practices in education, vocational training, and infrastructure development. Both sides also discussed regional and international issues, and reaffirmed the importance of working closely together at the United Nations and other international fora on issues of critical importance to small island nations.
Prime Minister Holness and his delegation also received briefings by the Housing & Development Board, Institute of Technical Education, Public Utilities Board, PSA Singapore, Singapore Cooperation Enterprise and Urban Redevelopment Authority.
Prime Minister Holness departs Singapore this evening for Kingston.
