MFA Press Statement: Visit by H.E. Mohammed Sajid, Minister of Tourism, Air Transport, Handicraft and Social Economy of the Kingdom of Morocco, to Singapore under the Middle East Eminent Persons' Programme, 24 to 26 April 2018

     His Excellency Mohammed Sajid, Minister of Tourism, Air Transport, Handicraft and Social Economy of the Kingdom of Morocco, visited Singapore from 24 to 26 April 2018 under the Middle East Eminent Persons’ Programme (MEEPP) at the invitation of Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Transport Khaw Boon Wan.  Minister Sajid called on DPM and Coordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policies Tharman Shanmugaratnam on 25 April, where they exchanged views on regional issues.  Minister Khaw hosted Minister Sajid to a working lunch and they discussed how both sides could further deepen aviation cooperation.  Minister Sajid also met with Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan.  The two Ministers reaffirmed the warm bilateral relationship and welcomed the increased momentum of engagement between both countries. 


     Minister Sajid met with Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ministry of National Development Dr Koh Poh Koon to discuss cooperation in the fields of tourism and hospitality.  Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman hosted Minister Sajid to dinner and they discussed the key areas of cooperation that were identified when they met in Rabat in March 2018.


     During his visit, Minister Sajid and his delegation also met with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore and Changi Airport Group.  They also participated in a roundtable with Singapore companies interested in the tourism and hospitality sectors in Morocco, which was organised by the Singapore Business Federation. 


     Administered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the MEEPP is a programme that aims to bring distinguished personalities from the Middle East region to Singapore to promote mutual understanding and cooperation.  18 Middle East personalities have visited Singapore under the ambit of the MEEPP since its launch in 2007.
