Singapore, along with 52 other cosponsors representing 79 Members from a wide cross section of the WTO, including LDCs, Net Food Importing Developing Countries, developing and developed Members and covering all regions, have issued a Joint Statement (34.54KB) at the WTO on Agriculture Export Prohibitions or Restrictions Relating to the World Food Programme (WFP) on 20 January 2021. This is a follow-up to the draft General Council (GC) decision on the same issue that Singapore proposed for adoption at the December GC session, which was unable to be adopted by consensus. The Joint Statement is a demonstration, in a concrete way, of our collective commitment to support the WFP in alleviating hunger and combating malnutrition among the world’s most vulnerable populations, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
