This August, a number of young Vietnamese scholars will join their ASEAN counterparts to pursue undergraduate studies in Singapore universities. They are among the outstanding students in the region who have been awarded the presitigious Singapore Scholarship.
During the scholarship award ceremony held at his residence on 26 July 2013, the Singapore Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr NG Teck Hean, said that education is one of the key areas of cooperation between Singapore and Vietnam, and that Vietnamese scholars play an important role in contributing to the mutual understanding between the peoples of Singapore and Vietnam.
Every year, the Singapore Government awards a limited number of the Singapore Scholarships to outstanding students from ASEAN member countries based on academic merit. These scholarships are part of Singapore's contribution under the Singapore Cooperation Programme (SCP) to enhance human resources and people-to-people ties within ASEAN. Successful candidates are fully-funded to pursue undergraduate degrees of their choice at one of Singapore’s universities. The scholars are encouraged to return to their own country to contribute to its development upon graduation.
