Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong will make an official visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam from 23 to 26 September 2014 at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. ESM Goh’s visit will reaffirm the close bilateral ties between the two countries, and builds upon the Strategic Partnership established in September 2013 during the visit by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
In Hanoi, ESM Goh will meet General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Truong Tan Sang, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, as well as Hanoi Party Secretary Pham Quang Nghi. In addition, ESM Goh will visit the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park in Bac Ninh province and attend the grand opening of DON Singapore clothing store, which is the house brand of a Singapore Small-Medium Enterprise that has been operating in Vietnam for the past 20 years.
In Ho Chi Minh City, ESM Goh will meet Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Le Thanh Hai and People’s Committee Chairman Le Hoang Quan. ESM Goh will also attend a reception with the Singapore community there.
ESM Goh will be accompanied by Minister of State for Trade and Industry Teo Ser Luck, Minister of State for Health Lam Pin Min, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Trade and Industry, and International Enterprise Singapore.
