The Vietnam – Singapore Training Centre (VSTC) will be hosting a four-day Intermediate Course on Trade Liberalisation through World Trade Organisation (WTO) and Agreements – Market Access for Agricultural and Industrial Products and Related Issues from 7 January to 10 January 2013 in Hanoi. The course is sponsored by the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the framework of the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI).
2 The course will be conducted by Ms Margaret Liang, Consultant to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) for WTO/Trade Issues; Adjunct Professor of the National University of Singapore Law Faculty; Adjunct Senior Fellow of the Rajaratnam School of International Relations, Nanyang Technological University and Senior Fellow of the MFA Diplomatic Academy and Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) Trade Academy. Ms Liang has considerable experience in international trade law cases before the GATT/WTO, both as advocate and panelist/Chairman.
3 The workshop will provide the opportunity to discuss how trade liberalisation initiatives are undertaken under the WTO and its various Agreements. The focus will be on market access issues governing negotiations in both trades in agricultural and non-agricultural sectors.
4 The course will be attended by 30 officials from various government agencies including Ministry Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Central Institute for Economic Management, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Center, officials from provinces such as Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc and some other organisations.
